The private entrance to the gite is through the old stable doors opening on to the main courtyard where you will find the following accommodation: A kitchen / living/dining room - the main room has a sofa, coffee table, dining table and chairs.
The kitchen is well laid out and the facilities include electric hob and combination microwave. The double bedroom (with double bed) and bathroom/toilet en suite. Patio doors from the living room open on to a private sitting area overlooking the fields. Table, chairs and barbecue are available for you to enjoy cooking and eating alfresco. All you need to do when you arrive is uncork the chilled bottle of wine that is waiting for you and sit outside looking out over the rolling fields and woods beyond. With linen, bath towels and welcome pack all included in the price and the possibility of ordering dinner and/or getting us to do your grocery shopping in advance, you don't need to worry about making up the beds or shopping for the first couple of days. Peace and quiet are the key words here however, you are very near to restaurants and shops so you are not cut off from the world!
La Tuilerie is situated half way between Dijon and Lyon, with easy access to the A6 motorway. The property is in the village of Chazelle, just outside Cormatin, a small town with a very attractive château in the heart of the South Burgundy countryside. Cormatin itself has shops for your daily needs, a very attractive regional arts and crafts centre and a small market once every two weeks. Just 12 km away is Cluny, which has a couple of large and very well stocked supermarkets. The lively medieval market town of St Gengoux le National with its good range of shops and one supermarket is 9 km from La Tuilerie.
Why noy try wine tasting? We are in the Mâconnais wine region on the edge of the Côte Chalonnaise wine region but within easy reach of others such as the Côte d'Or and Beaujolais. Numerous village viticulturists (as well as a couple of good, local wine co-operatives) offer wine tastings .
We are well situated for visiting historic towns like Beaune, Dijon, Lyon, Autun, Tournus and Cluny. There are also lots of châteaux, Romanesque churches, cathedrals and beautiful uncrowded countryside to visit near here. Spirituality: The religious centres of Taizé (christian) and La Boulaye (buddhist) are also within reach. The spiritual centre of Taizé is so close you can even walk there if you want. Cycling and walking: La Voie Verte (a cycle path that runs the length of South Burgundy) passes within a stone's throw of the property and gives cycling and walking access to many interesting towns and villages.
