Our Cortijo for holiday lets in La Parrilla is situated deep in the heart of rural Andalucia on the borders of Malaga & Cordoba provinces inland Spain. This area is famous for the quality of its Olive Oil. Adjoining our property are Casa Limon our self catering 2 bedroom cottage for 4/5 persons and The Casita a 1 bedroom apartment for 2/3 persons. There is access from the first floor hallway to a private sun terrace/patio equipped with table, easy chairs and a parasol with steps down to the lower patio. The local cuisine is varied and offers such delights as Chorizo’s, Porras Antequera, the famous Jamon Serrano, Morcilla, Gazpacho, Tortillas and many local pork dishes. Roger also offers catering in the Cortijo in the local style, along with a noon Sunday Brunch.
Your hosts for your stay are Roger & Elizabeth Bushnell, who left Scotland in April and completed the purchase here in May 2007, Roger & Elizabeth ran and owned a classic Shooting Lodge Hotel in Speyside on the whisky trail so have exchanged one golden nectar for another. We have continued to refurbish our holiday rentals in La Parrilla with soft furnishings, free view satellite and now with central heating, (yes it does get cool here in the Winter, early mornings and evenings). We do hope you will enjoy this peaceful location that we have found here, away from high rise developments and devoid of mass tourism, with rich local customs, culture, the warmth of the local populous & the outstanding natural beauty of the area. Set in the heart of rural Andalucia both properties enjoy a peaceful setting with open views across the surrounding Olive Groves, with the small community of La Parrilla a short walk away. This is a perfect retreat for those of you wanting to just relax and enjoy a peaceful holiday get away in a tranquil environment in Andalucia. Whilst still being able to explore the main cultural cities of Granada, Cordoba and Seville in this historic part fo Southern Spain.
Seville approx 2 hours away the cultural heart of Andalucia with its imposing Cathedral, Giralda Tower, Real Alcazar & Plaza de Espana with the new La Isla Magica with lots of white knuckle rides for kids of all ages.Malaga is about an hour away with the old Moorish Fortress known as the Alcazaba where you can walk the ramparts and view the walled gardens. The recently opened Picasso Museum is also a must for all art lovers www.museupicasso.bcn.es More locally situated is the home of local artist and sculptor Berrocal and an exhibition of his works can be seen in nearby Villanueva de Algaidas. The large local town of Antequera is a short car ride away and combines a modern vibrant town within the walls of an old City, complete with a Bullring, and is one of the towns visited by the 19th. Century writer and traveler Washington Irving. The town is also famous for the prehistoric Dolmen caves dating back to 2500 BC, all within 30 minutes by car. Amongst the other attractions are a Donkey Sanctuary where you may even adopt one of the inmates, quad biking, go karting circuit, Skiing on the Sierra Nevada, horse riding. Whilst we prefer Saturday-Saturday changes we can sometimes arrange other days, please enquire, a deposit of 25% is required on reservation with the balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival. Please do not ignore Granada as an alternative airport although Malaga is usually better value due to the sheer volume of flights, Seville airport is also available about two hours from La Parrilla. Sailings from Portsmouth to Santandar allow 1 day when in Spain to locate us. Our rental rates include taxes, water, gas, electricity, linen and a small welcome pack to ensure survival on your arrival. For further shopping requirements please do advise us and we will shop for you at same cost, please remember that all shops still close here on Sundays
