Cortijo Los Arroyos Altos is that hidden gem you always wished you could find. It is a traditional Andalucian farmhouse which has been recently renovated retaining many of its original features and consisting of 2 houses, 1 of which is available for self catering holidays. The other is the home of the owners who are on hand should you need any help and advice, but otherwise the facilities are exclusively yours for the duration of your holiday. The Cortijo is nestled in 10,000 sq mtrs of land amidst olive and almond groves with spectacular mountain views. The setting is very tranquil and there are many tracks where you can stroll freely through the olive groves. The area is a paradise for walkers, climbers, painters, birdwatchers (bee-eaters and hoopoes are a common sight here). Horse riding and tennis are nearby and golf is available in Antequera, just 40 minutes drive away.
Relax and unwind around the very quiet and peaceful 10 x 5 mtr private swimming pool which is bordered by extensive terracing. There is a covered pool side kitchen/bar, BBQ, wc/changing/utility room and plenty of space for outdoor games such as pool, table tennis, table football, giant jenga etc. With comfortable sunloungers provided and dining areas in both sunny and shady spots, there is something for everyone to enjoy the al fresco lifestyle. The holiday cottage provides home from home self catering accommodation for 6. The ground floor consists of a sitting room with woodburner, satellite TV, DVD/CD player (free comprehensive DVD library), dining room, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and 1 double bedroom. The first floor consists of 2 twin bedrooms. To the front of the cottage there are 2 further patio areas providing sun or shade for dining or quiet reading space. The owners offer you a warm welcome with drinks and tapas.
The property is 10 minutes away from the motorway which leads you to all the major tourist attractions of the area. These include Granada, famous for the Alhambra Palace, Antequera with its many churches and ancient burial chambers, Ronda has its’ amazing 'new' bridge, Cordoba boasts its' impressive Arabian mosque (the 3rd largest in the world), Seville the very heart of Andalucian culture, not forgetting Malaga, the birthplace of Picasso and of course the beaches of the Costa del Sol. There are lots of lovely lakes in the area, our nearest being Lake Iznajar which has a sandy beach, and a picnic/ bbq area. A little further afield there is Malaga’s ‘Lake District’, where three beautiful aqua lakes join. One of our favourite restaurants, El Kiosko, is located here and with a view of the lake, excellent food and service, you can spend many an hour here. Just across the road, by the lakeside, you can relax, swim or dive from the rocks. You can also visit the impressive limestone rock formations of the Torcal National Park. Wind & rain has chiseled away at the layers of rock to form incredible shapes. There are 2 routes for walkers, a visitors centre, and a viewing point. The ski resort of Solynieve is approx 1hr 20 mins away. It is Europe’s most southerly ski venue and offers a wide choice of runs for skiers of all levels. The season usually starts in Nov/Dec and can last until April, depending on the snow of course. Ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon!

Two centres that are definitely worth a visit are the wolf park and the donkey sanctuary. Lobo Park, situated just outside Antequera, can be enjoyed by all the family. There are 4 huge enclosures in 40 hectares of untouched natural park with European, Timber, Iberian and Polar wolves. There is a petting zoo and horse riding is also available. With a museum, cafeteria, bar area and souvenir shop a morning or afternoon is easily covered. Guided tours are a must and one of the special events organised for visitors is a ‘wolf howl night’. The Donkey Sanctuary is situated near Fuente de Piedra. Donkeys from all over the world have been saved and are being cared for here. Called El Refugio Del Burrito the centre relies totally on donations and admission is free. An adopt-a-donkey scheme has been set up to help towards running costs.
