This purpose built cottage has been designed to provide total privacy, space and comfort for two people, with a pouffe bed in the lounge for a third person. The twin bedroom has walled mounted reading-lights and a central light with a fan. To provide maximum comfort all windows have night blinds. The bedroom and lounge windows face the southwest, which provides guests with spectacular views to the Atlantic Ocean. The bathroom is fully tiled and consists of a toilet, washbasin, a bidet and a 90cm square shower, with other bathroom furnishings to satisfy both short and long stay requirements. The well thought out, double worktop, galley kitchen, is comprehensively furnished to satisfy most cooking requirements. The living area consists of a large lounge-dining room with lounge and dining seating for four. For private entertainment, the cottage has a TV, video and music center with wall-mounted speakers.

It is our desire to give you, as our guests, a holiday that you will remember with fond memories and we are always available to provide information and assistance, during your stay. Finca Higueron is 3KM from the center of La Muela, where there is a very popular, inexpensive Italian restaurant and Venta Rufino’s provides excellent, low priced food in a local friendly atmosphere. In season fresh homegrown vegetables are available to our guests, who wish to ‘eat in’.

There is also a broad selection of videos and DVD’s available for in house entertainment; in addition we operate a very popular book swap service. The large garden area is quiet and surrounded by common land that can be explored. As the Finca is on the flight path for birds migrating from Donona Park and Africa, it is ideal for bird watching. There are many different walks nearby and we have mountain bikes, with safety helmets for those who like to explore. For golfers we have full sets of clubs and golf trolleys for hire.

Although the southern Costa de la Luz is quiet and unspoilt by tourism, there are a number of white Moorish Spanish towns, with churches, monuments and narrow streets waiting to be explored. Within half an hour of Finca Higueron, are the towns of Vejer, Conil, Medina Sidonia, Benalup and Barbate. A little further away there is Tarifa, at Europe’s most southern point. There are views to Africa (17KM away) over the straights of Gibraltar. To the north the working city of Cadiz, steeped with history, is less than an hour away. It has very few big shops; instead there is a traditional Spanish city center with churches and historic buildings, a large, busy, fresh meat, fish and vegetable market. Also there is the main port and long sandy beaches, and. For wine trips and tasting, Jerez, Sanlucar and Chipiona make up the world’s sherry triangle. While Seville, the capital of Andalusia and flamenco is a little further north.

There is something to do for everyone in the Costa de la Luz. You can go to a different, sandy beach every day of you holiday. Near to Finca Higueron are historic sites, including the 16 acres of Roman ruins fronting the beach at Bolonia; the little know Palomo Cortija, where pigeons were bred for the Spanish galleons; an old grain water mill that is still worked by local villagers.

For nature lovers, there is dolphin and whale watching off Tarifa, or take a trip to one of Europe’s largest wild life parks at Donona or a local bird watching expedition. Locally there are many sporting activities, including four golf courses within a 1/2-hour and eight within an hour’s drive; there is horse riding, scuba diving, surfing, wind surfing, para surfing and also hang gliding from Vejer. Less than an hour away a large aqua-park is open in the summer. Also, through the summer months each town takes it in turn to have a fair and some towns, including Vejer, have a bull run through its streets. Visit our web site for more information and pictures.

You won’t get bored here! When you have had enough of the 20km of safe, sandy beach, between Trafalgar and Conil Harbour, which we look onto, there are the coves near Roche and Canos de Meca. Away from the beaches, there are many pueblo blanco’s to explore. Conil, Vejer, Medina Sidonia, Chiclana, & Arcos, with their churches, narrow streets, daily markets and traditional Spanish restaurants and bars. 40 km away, Tarifa is the most southern point of Europe, where you can get a ferry for an organised trip to Tangier, go whale watching, scuba diving, enjoy wind sports or just explore the history and find out about Guszman el Bueno. If it is Cadiz history you want, there are the Roman ruins at Bolonia, the little known Cortijo at San Ambrosia and 30 km away there is Cadiz. Although you can drive to Cadiz, we recommend taking a commuter boat and entering the original city via the huge bay. Visit the cathedral, museum & wander through the unspoilt narrow streets with many unique privately owned shops.

Visit Jerez, take a sherry tour, see an Andaluciian horse display or visit the Alcaza with its camera obscura. Take a day trip to Seville & enjoy the capital of Andalucia, with its famous tapas bars, cathedral and Alcaza. Finca Higueron is a unique location for bird watching. It is on the flight path of migrating birds to and from Europe to Africa, also, the quiet country location is perfect for watching Short toed Eagles, Egyptian Vultures and Montagu's Harriers at eye level at the garden edge. There is ease of access to the Bay of Cadiz, Algaida-Trebujena Marshes, Sierra be la Plata (Bolonia) and especially La Janda (which can be seen from the garden) For the more active, without getting into your car, you can take a number of different walking and cycling routes. We can provide personal advice on which of the 10 local golf courses you would most enjoy to play. If that isn’t enough, become more Spanish, by taking a language, flamenco or guitar lessons nearby.
